“The Lord has done great things for us and we are filled with joy.” - Psalm 126:3

As we reflect back on the 2012 season with Kershaw’s Challenge, it is truly incredible to consider all that the Lord has done. In January 2012, the thought of Arise Home was only an empty plot of land and dream. Today, it stands complete and filled with nine amazing Zambian children. Additionally, through our other partnerships, we have seen communities begin to transform thanks to the phenomenal work of organizations we believe in.

By God’s grace, Kershaw’s Challenge raised $220,000 in 2012. It was an answer to prayer to have so many friends, family and fans join our efforts. Thanks to YOUR generosity and the Lord’s work, we were able to give more than ever to our benefitting ministries.

We want to be good, responsible stewards of your generosity. Therefore, we believe that 100% of your donation should be given directly to the 4 ministries we support. Not one dollar goes towards the operating costs of Kershaw’s Challenge. We are so grateful for every dollar given by generous donors; we want to make sure it goes directly into the hands of organizations helping children in need.

Your efforts built a home in Africa for vulnerable children through Arise Africa.

Over the course of 2 years, we were able to raise funds to buy two adjoining plots of land in Lusaka, Zambia, one for the home and one for the garden. As of right now, the home houses 9 children, 2 house moms (at various times), a fully blooming garden of fruits & vegetables, a water well, and a open area of grass for the kids to run around on. The house has a boys’ room & a girls’ room, housemothers’ quarters, an office, and a “grand” room with a kitchen, dining area, and living room. These children will live in the house until they have graduated high school. For more information, please visit our Arise Home Page.

Your efforts blessed the Peacock Foundation with funds to support their incredible Creature/Comfort Program.

This program is an 8 week program that works across the 5/5/5/5 model. $5,000 allows them to run the program with 5 interns from a local Exotic Animal Training Management Program, and provide Marriage & Family Therapy programs through 5 different organizations that they partner with, 5 days a week.

Your efforts gave 300 baseball gloves to Mercy Street for their sports ministry program for underprivileged children.

Mercy Street pours into inner city youth in West Dallas through their after school programs & mentoring, as well as their sports programs. They believe that sports are an invaluable tool to reach the community of West Dallas with the Gospel. Each Spring, Mercy Street participates in Little League baseball. Last year, over 270 kids participated. The players join the league, but often the team lacks appropriate equipment. Kershaw’s Challenge was excited to donate to this cause- hosting a baseball clinic last November for all the kids, and donated 300 gloves.

Your efforts supported the I Am Second movement to spread the gospel worldwide.

I Am Second equips over 3,000 mission expedition travelers to over 30 countries around the world with tools and training materials, including Evangecubes that are used with local residents. They also intercede in helping community transformation occur in pockets of the United States. Lastly, our donation went towards helping them launch the Spanish language translation of the I am Second films & materials. Clayton was honored to share his testimony in a video created by I Am Second.

We can’t thank you enough for coming alongside us on this mission of Kershaw’s Challenge in 2012. The Lord HAS done great things—it’s awesome to consider the new season ahead! We would love for you to stay in touch with these ministries. They continue to do the Lord’s work in amazing ways!
