It's great to be at the beginning of a new season and also a new year for Kershaw's Challenge. Sometimes things don't play out how you hope--being on the DL at the season's start wasn't exactly what I had in mind. But still, I'm confident that this is part of the Lord's plan for me and I'm excited to get back to the game as soon as possible.
The great part of being on a team is that there are 24 other guys who are working hard to win games. As I've watched from the dugout, it's been awesome to specifically watch the other pitchers. And that leads me to the mission of Kershaw’s Challenge…
Kershaw's Challenge has always been about giving to something bigger than ourselves. We challenge others to use their talents to give back to those in need. One of our main campaigns is Strikeout To Serve. Since I can't strike anyone out right now, I've decided to look to the guys on my team who are making it happen. Every time one of my teammates gets a strikeout, I'll make a donation to Kershaw's Challenge. Going back to opening day, I’ll give for every strikeout, for every Dodger pitcher.
I can't wait to get back to playing and I am working hard every day to get there. Ellen and I believe in the Lord's work through Kershaw's Challenge. So, here’s to keeping track of strikeouts in a whole new way.
