2023 Beneficiary Introductions: Bonton Farms
It’s time for our first 2023 beneficiary introduction! Meet Bonton Farms, located in our Kershaw’s Challenge hometown of Dallas, TX. Bonton Farms is located in south Dallas and their mission is to transform lives by disrupting systems of inequity, laying a foundation where change yields health, wholeness and opportunity as the norm.
Bonton Farms started as a small venture to make nutritious food accessible to a malnourished community and has grown into two fully functional farms and five social enterprises, all focused on growing organic food and inspiring hope for a better future.
“What started out as a garden in a small lot has grown to two fully functioning farms, a Farmer’s Market, a Café and Coffee House. We continue to grow organic food and hope for a better tomorrow right in the Bonton community, but we are addressing more of the barriers residents are up against so they can access all seven human essentials. Working alongside residents to transform the community, we support our neighbors in redefining the norm in their community so they may have a fighting chance at life.”
This year we will be focused on helping Bonton Farms build a new Health and Wellness Center – a hub for community education events, healthcare, wellness groups and even a financial resource center.
