BonTon Farms

Our 2024 Project is to help fund the purchase of an existing building to be the hub of Grocery Connect.

We are excited for another year partnering with Bonton Farms in Dallas! The mission of Bonton Farms is to transform lives by disrupting systems of inequity, laying a foundation where change yields health, wholeness and opportunity as the norm. Bonton Farms is located in the 75215 zip code of South Dallas.

The Bonton area is a food desert. Families do not have access to grocery stores without a very long journey. Bonton Farms is breaking through these obstacles with their very presence in the community. Grocery Connect is a new concept that brings FRESH and REAL food and groceries to the food deserts in our city. Bonton will be one of three locations around Dallas. Through a partnership with Kroger, Grocery Connect will set up a location for families and individuals to shop and receive groceries. In order to get this started, Bonton’s goal is to purchase an existing building, directly across from their main location. This building would serve as a hub for this new, vibrant opportunity.

For oak cliff

Our 2024 Project with For Oak Cliff is to participate as the presenting sponsor at their Annual Back to School Festival in South Dallas.

Our friends at For Oak Cliff are serving the South Dallas community in transformative ways. Their 10-acre piece of property is an oasis and vital resource to that part of the city and we are grateful for the ways they are meeting the needs of families and children. The annual Back-to-School Festival is in a league of its own. The FOC Back to School Festival is an annual event that welcomes the South Oak Cliff community for school supplies, food, games and live music, and handing out over 5000 backpacks filled with supplies to get kids in South Dallas ready for another school year. It is a staple event every year! Our project this year with For Oak Cliff is to participate again as the presenting sponsor.

For the nations

Our 2024 Project with For the Nations is to fund children and family transportation through the purchase of a school bus and 15 passenger van.

For the Nations has been building relationships and providing practical services to the refugee community in Dallas since 2006. They continue to provide a wide range of quality services to 3000 refugees annually, including children, youth, and adults from over 20 countries in Africa, Asia, and the Middle East.

The services they provide include education for adults and children through English, literacy, GED, and citizenship classes, as well as Pre-School, after school, and summer programs for children. Additionally, they provide family services including extended casework, immigration legal services, employment opportunities, connection to healthcare and food, and a variety of other needs. Most importantly, For the Nations is a Christian ministry and aims to demonstrate the love of Christ in all that they do.

Currently, For the Nations provides services for about 750 refugees weekly at their facility in Dallas County. The most vulnerable families, who are typically the newest arrivals to the USA, need transportation to receive their services.

FTN is in need of two additional reliable vehicles - one bus and one van - in order to provide consistent transportation to the families in need. These vehicles will allow transport of 80 additional children to summer programs, field trips, and summer camps, and will allow them the capacity to transport 240 additional adults and children to weekly services.

We will also be partnering with Shoes That Fit (see below) to provide shoes for the children of For the Nations.

Shoes that fit

2024 Project with Shoes That Fit: Provide shoes for the children at For the Nations.

Shoes That Fit tackles one of the most visible signs of poverty in America by giving children in need new athletic shoes to attend school with dignity and joy, prepared to learn, play, and thrive. A new pair of shoes can be a life-changing event for a child. School attendance, self-esteem, and behavior improve. Physical activity increases. Smiles return. All from an often-overlooked item—a good pair of shoes. Shoes That Fit’s vision is that, one day, every child in America who needs new shoes gets new shoes, allowing all children the opportunity to reach their highest potential. We are excited to combine two awesome organizations in 2024 in providing shoes for the children served at For the Nations!
